South Lee Prep School & Nursery Spreads Festive Joy at Nowton Court Village

Bury St Edmunds, 6 December 2023 - In the true spirit of giving back to the community, Year 7 and 8 pupils from South Lee Prep School & Nursery brought holiday cheer to the residents of Nowton Court Village on Monday, December 4 2023.

The young pupils, embodying one of the school's core principles of community engagement, spent a delightful afternoon serenading the residents with heart-warming Christmas carols. The festive melodies filled the air as the children and residents came together to celebrate the joyous season.

Following the musical merriment, the pupils and residents engaged in friendly board game sessions that bridged the generational gap, fostering connections and creating lasting memories. The highlight of the day was the delectable lunch prepared by Nowton Court Village's resident chef, adding a touch of culinary excellence to the festivities.

The atmosphere was positively charged with Christmas spirit and goodwill, evident in the laughter and shared moments echoing through the halls of Nowton Court Village. Sam Dacey, the Manager, expressed her gratitude, saying, "Our residents had a truly delightful experience singing carols with the children - it even brough a few of them to tears! Witnessing them engage in lively conversation and share a meal together was truly heartening. We look forward to the possibility of repeating this wonderful occasion soon."

Mrs. Jo Coventry-King, Head of South Lee Prep School & Nursery, shared her sentiments on the meaningful event, stating, "We are very keen to build on community relations, and Nowton Court Village being our neighbour, we felt that this was the perfect place for us to share some holiday spirit and cheer."

She added, "Spending time with the residents, just talking to them and learning about their lives, which was what made the morning special to me. It was an absolute delight to be able to organise such an event for our neighbours down the road. All the children had a lovely time and have not stopped taking about it. We look forward to having this as an annual event and are also excited about organising other activities."

South Lee Prep School & Nursery's commitment to fostering community spirit shines brightly through events like these, creating lasting memories and building bridges between generations. As the festive season unfolds, the school remains dedicated to spreading joy and goodwill in the local community.
