LIBRARY CURRICULUM

Each year group has a weekly library session. The simple aim of this is to encourage a love of reading and to foster the habit of reading for pleasure.

During this library session, the English teacher will encourage their pupils to read a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books. Teachers assist in monitoring pupils reading behaviours and support the implementation of intervention where required. They encourage the pursuit of personal interests through reading and research. Through reading, children are encouraged to explore their curiosity in the wider world.

The library is a welcoming space, with a varied collection of books from a wide and diverse range of authors, illustrators and forms which support the curriculum and children's personal interests.
