Welcome from our Nursery staff
At South Lee we pride ourselves on the warm, caring, nurturing atmosphere we create for the children in our care. We would like you to see for yourself the exciting, bright setting of which your child could be a part. In our experience, a happy, settled child is a child who will flourish, learn and grow into a confident, secure individual. Children leave our Early Years as independent little people ready for the next step in their education.
It is important that the adults caring for your child are suitably qualified, with a strong commitment to further training. It is also very important to us that the staff have patience, understanding and an acute awareness and love of children.
We strive to provide a stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors that allows the children in our care to maximise their potential in all areas of their learning. We encourage learning through exploration and discovery, putting in place firm foundation in supporting our children with their exciting learning journey with all its adventures, challenges, and achievements.
We warmly invite you to visit us and experience first-hand what our Early Years Department can offer you and your child!
ABOUT OUR NURSERY
South Lee Nursery caters for children from three months old, making the transfer from home to Nursery as smooth as possible. It is a self-contained and secure environment, providing education for children up to four years of age.
South Lee Nursery operates from several rooms in purpose built premises, within the grounds of South Lee School in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The opening times are 8.00am to 6.00pm weekdays only, with the option of all year round or term time only contracts. A delicious lunch and healthy snack will be provided during this time.
Breakfast club is available from 7.30am for all pupils.
We offer an after school care facility within the main school until 6.00pm, which is available to nursery children at an additional cost. Availability depends on number and age of children, as stringent adult child ratios must be adhered to.
There are three classrooms within the Nursery building, all with immediate access to secure outside play areas. Under the guidance of Mrs Deborah Ward, highly qualified and enthusiastic staff provide a stimulating, fun environment to help and encourage each child to learn and develop. Planning is carefully thought out using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum guidelines, and a range of adult-let and child-initiated activities are provided on a daily basis.
Throughout Nursery, our children are able to access a full and varied curriculum, which covers the three prime areas and four specific areas of learning, as set out in the EYFS documentation. Our planning focuses on these three areas and we provide activities and experiences to ensure your child can reach their full potential with us, whilst having a fun and exciting time.
