Year 8 Leavers Programme

To celebrate their time at South Lee, Mr Catchpole (Head of Prep and Year 8 form tutor) organised a fantastic and fun-filled leavers programme for our Year 8 students!

Take a look at what the Year 8 pupils got up to!

Year 8 started the week with an enjoyable trip to the seaside to Felixstowe! They then continued the day at Jumpstreet in Colchester, where they had hours of trampoline fun. The pupils then travelled to Leisure World to go swimming.

Next on their list of exciting places and activities was the Bury Golf Range where students practiced their golfing skills. They continued focusing on accuracy when they visited Bury Bowl, where pupils aimed for strikes and spares!

During the exciting week, Year 8 pupils listened and asked probing questions to the Year 7 children about their IPQ topic.

Year 8 spent a night camping at school! They pitched their own tents, made pizzas and toasted marshmallows round the fire.

As the oldest in the school, Year 8 had the opportunity to help out at the Nursery and Pre-Prep Sports Day as well as participating in their own. They also spent a morningdoing work experience down in Nursery/Pre-Prep with the younger children.

On Monday 5th July, the year group travelled to Pleasurewood Hills, the exciting theme park!

Pupils enjoyed their self-defence and mixed martial arts workshop lead by Mark Trent, from Scorpion Martial Art Academy in Stowmarket. The group then visited High Lodge, our local Forestry England Centre. The evening finished with the Leavers Dinner. This was a special event where the Year 8 children and their parents had the opportunity to gather and celebrate their time at South Lee, whilst looking forward to the next stage in their lives.

Southlake Aqua Park was a lot of fun on a hot day! Students had a great time climbing, running and jumping on inflatables in a lake.

The Year 8 children had a very popular stall at the Summer Fete on the last week of term. Pupils (and staff) were glamourized, with face paint, glitter temporary tattoos and funky coloured hair spray.

Friday 9th July was a special day for the Year 8 children as it was their final day at South Lee. After a fun morning in their form class, they then prepared themselves for Speech Day. It was an emotional ending for the Year 8 class of 2021, but we hope they remember the Leavers Programme week and their time at South Lee with many happy memories.
