At South Lee, we are considering using these robotic dogs to help children with their home learning.
They will be able to listen out for any comments such as “it’s glitching”, “I can’t hear you”, “I can’t see it” etc. They will then leap into action, either fixing the computer or sending Mr Bradbury an alert.
Unfortunately, the robot dogs were designed to see well but not to hear.
Year 4's task was to design a pair of pinna (outer ears) that would be able to funnel the sound down to the microphones inside the dog’s head, so they can hear even the quietest frustrated mutterings. Children were asked to explain how their design works so that we can understand why their design was the most effective.
Here to explain their designs are Grace, Florrie, Emily and Arya.
