Enrichment Afternoon

Updated: Oct 12

As part of their Thursday STEAM enrichment sessions, Year 6 & 7 pupils were set a challenge of designing a wearable step-counter using Micro:bit mini computers.

In order to promote sustainability and recycling, students walked into the centre of Bury St Edmunds to source garments from charity shops, such as Cancer Research UK and Mind, that could be repurposed to house their newly designed technology.

During the walk, pupils tested the accuracy and functionality of their prototype step counters in order to make improvements in their next session.

Our Year 8 pupils headed outside to our onsite Forest School area for some team building.

Guided by our qualified leaders, pupils worked together to build dens that would be able to withstand the constantly changing British weather. They rounded off the session by cooking some delicious popcorn and roasting marshmallows on the roaring fire!
