Academic
Adventure doesn’t just have to happen outside the classroom. Children are naturally curious and driven to explore and understand the world around them. Our innovative curriculum and individual approach creates engaged and enthusiastic learners who want to learn. At South Lee, our children have the time and space to find their passions and to work on more than just English and Maths. With this freedom comes a love of learning, and with that love comes success in all areas.
Curriculum
At South Lee, we value every step of a child’s learning journey. We celebrate both progress and achievement, understanding that steady improvement is key to long-term success. As a proudly non-selective school, we support and challenge each child as an individual. Our children consistently perform above national expectations, reflecting the quality of our teaching, the strength of our curriculum, and the encouragement children receive throughout their time with us.
Individualised Learning
At South Lee, we understand that every child learns in a unique way. Our approach to individualised learning ensures that all pupils receive the support and challenge they need to thrive. Teaching is carefully adapted to meet individual needs within the classroom, while our specialist staff provide targeted opportunities to extend learning or offer additional guidance when necessary.
Academic Learning Support
Our Learning Support team works closely with class teachers to ensure pupils with additional needs receive tailored support. This may include one-to-one teaching, small group interventions, or the introduction of specific strategies and tools in class. For some pupils, assistive technology is introduced in the later years to enhance access and independence. We also work with external professionals when necessary, including speech and language therapists.
Emotional Learning Support
Emotional wellbeing underpins every aspect of learning at South Lee. Some children may need help with confidence or emotional regulation, and our staff are trained to respond with sensitivity and care. Our dedicated Pastoral Lead supports both staff and students, and we have a trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistant available. We also work with qualified counsellors and make use of our beautiful outdoor spaces to support wellbeing. Children benefit from regular time in our gardens, fields, and Forest School area, where they are encouraged to reflect, connect, and build resilience.
