Enhanced Curriculum
At South Lee, we believe that the key to early development is providing children with a broad range of experiences. The more they explore and try new things, the more confidence and skills they gain.
From our Cygnets to Pre-School, children benefit from an enhanced curriculum that includes the following opportunities:
Music
Each week, our Pre-School children enjoy a specialist music session led by our Director of Music. They explore a range of instruments, develop rhythm and pitch, and learn to sing familiar and new songs. These sessions help to build both confidence and creativity through joyful music-making.
Sport
Led by our Director of Sport, children take part in weekly physical education lessons, where they practise movement, coordination, balance, and early ball skills. These fun, energetic sessions help to build a love of physical activity and a strong foundation in physical development.
Forest School
All Nursery children take part in weekly Forest School sessions in our dedicated outdoor area. They explore the natural environment, build dens, solve problems together, and enjoy real hands-on learning. These sessions support teamwork, imagination, and independence.
Languages
Children enjoy a weekly French or Spanish session with our Language Specialist. Using songs, games, and storytelling, they are gently introduced to a new language in a way that feels fun and natural; laying early foundations for language learning.
Art
Our children enjoy creative sessions led by our Head of Art and Technology. These lessons focus on exploration and expression through a variety of materials and techniques. This allows children to develop their creativity and fine motor skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Cookery
The children have regular opportunities to prepare and bake simple recipes. These cookery sessions allow them to experiment, explore textures and smells, and develop practical life skills all whilst having fun.
