Meet Mr Brad James, South Lee’s new Year 6, Games/PE and Forest Schools teacher!
Where did you grow up and what were your favourite subjects at school?
I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. I enjoyed school as I got see my friends everyday. At school I enjoyed Geography, but PE most of all!
Where did you used to work before coming to South Lee?
I was Director of Sport at Moreton Hall Prep School for 12 years.
What are you most excited about joining South Lee?
Meeting new people and getting to know the pupils at South Lee! I am excited to learn what makes them ‘tick’ so that I can get the best out of them. Making South Lee a difficult opponent to play against on the sports field is my goal!
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I play a variety of sports which I thoroughly enjoy. I also enjoy spending time with my family exploring different places over the weekends and holidays.
What activity makes you lose track of time?
Watching live rugby on the television and forgetting about the house chores!
What achievement are you most proud of?
Just watching children enjoy playing sports and how they develop from the start of the year to the end!
Who inspires you?
My parents! They provided me with a solid foundation for me to build my own pathway in life.
What has made you smile recently?
Live Rugby back on the TV!!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
If you train at 50% you are going to play at 50%, don’t be that guy!
What is something that has surprised you about being a teacher?
How clued up the pupils are now regarding the world today and what is considered cool. They update me on the new trends!
Is there anything else we should know about you?
I am an easy going person who is always up for a chat, a laugh and a BBQ!
