Future Schools Fair
South Lee hosted an extremely successful Future Schools Evening with 17 senior schools in attendance. Delicious drinks and nibbles were consumed whilst parents investigated school life after South Lee.
Year 3 have been learning about Shrove Tuesday today! They have enjoyed eating some delicious pancakes!
Justice Week 2020
As it is Justice Week 2020, Year 2 have been sorting a number of rules into categories – Home Rules, School Rules or Laws. The children worked in pairs, and had to give reasons for their placement. They decided that some rules could actually fit into more than one category, such as ‘You should share your toys’. Well done Year 2!
As part of delivering The Big Legal Lesson as part of Justice Week 2020, our children have been learning about the justice system and understanding how laws are made.
Year 4 and 5 had the pleasure of Mr Grigg coming in to talk about the legal system and his involvement as a solicitor.
St John’s Literary Festival
Year 7 and 8 took part in the St. John’s Literary Festival. They explored how to write RAP poetry from Karl Nova and how to invent a fantasy world world from Abi Elphinstone. A truly fantastic day!
Islay in 4B and Mr Loveday led the morning assembly, talking about a very important topic: Recycling! Islay is very passionate about making sure climate change is taken seriously and has been investigating ways to recycle everyday products locally.
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for putting on the UV disco on Friday evening! EYFS, Pre-Prep and Prep danced the night away whilst being lit up by lights, face paints, bracelets and hairbands!
Year 3 have been creating their Viking shields in preparation for Viking day in March. Don’t they look amazing!
Year 8 have been creating miniature Damien Hirst inspired works in response to their study of the YBA arts movement of the late 90s. The topic has provoked some interesting work and lively debate as to what truly constitutes Art in the contemporary post-modern era.
There is nothing like hands on experience to really understand the inner workings of the body. The Year 6 children really enjoyed getting to grips with the heart in today’s Science lesson.
Lighting up a rainy Friday morning… Year 3 have continued their exploration on light sources, by testing different materials to discover whether they are opaque, translucent or transparent.
Year 6 have spent six weeks working on their gymnastics sequences. They have incorporated flight, counter balances, under, over and through actions plus smooth links within their routines. They should be very proud of their work as there are some very complicated and daring moves! Head over to our Facebook page to see the video!
South Lee School students had fun designing their own skills sports circuits on Tuesday as the weather rained off the usual outdoor sporting clubs. There were high levels of rugby and hockey skills on show! Well done Year 3 and 4!
The U11 netball teams both played quadrangulars at Finborough School on Wednesday.
The opposition was tough, but the girls demonstrated great improvement as the afternoon progressed.
It was lovely to see great team spirit and a keenness to improve throughout the matches.
Well done to all players!
It’s snowed! The school site looked magical with a light dusting of snow!
On their way to the woods on Friday morning, the children in Nursery enjoyed playing in the snow and sliding down the hill!
