It has been another busy week in 1F! This week in maths we have been learning about money. We began by recognising 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins and moved onto using these to make prices. Some of the children found this quite tricky but they all showed great resilience! We have also been looking at o’clock times. In English we have been reading at the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’. We ordered pictures from the story and carefully wrote some sentences to describe some parts of the story. The children all tried really hard to remember capital letters and full stops this week. In topic, we were learning all about hedgehogs. The children learnt some really interesting facts and created some excellent fact files. We have continued to finish our scarecrows in art and they are now all ready for display! The children are looking forward to seeing them up outside our classroom.
We have had another busy week in 2A! In English, we have learnt how to use a dictionary to loook up the meaning of words. We also read the story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’, and wrote our own versions. Our stories were excellent, with lots of adjectives and sentence openers to make them even more enjoyable to read. In Maths, we have been working on our knowledge of number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. We played a number bond board game to help us remember. In Topic, we learnt about coordinates and how we can use them to read and find where things are on maps. We then made our own maps of islands of our design. In Art we added to our islands by painting them. Some of them are very colourful, and we worked well together.
In Year 3 this week we have been continuing our written work using Charlie and The Chocolate factory. In Maths we have been adding numbers using partitioning. In history, we have been learning more about the Romans and in Geography we made a plan. We also completed our Christmas cards for the P.T.A.
