On Monday we really enjoyed watching the Prep school production! We loved cheering and booing along with the audience, and enjoyed all of the songs. In Maths this week, we have continued learning about multiplication. We have used pictures to look at the number of groups, and the number of objects in each group, and have counted in 2’s and 5’s to find the total. We have also continued to draw arrays and use our fingers to solve multiplication problems. We have also started to learn about division this week. We looked at pictures of rabbits and had to groups them into 2’s to find out how many hutches the farmer would need. We even wrote these as division number sentences. In English, we wrote postcards to a family member imagining that we were sending them from a Victorian seaside town. The children could remember facts well from our topic lessons to include in their postcards. In topic, we looked at the features of a seaside. We discussed the harbour, pier, cliffs, bay and the promenade. In Art, we finished our seaside landscape pictures and started making rainbow fish using lots of bright coloured paper.
Year 2 have had a fantastic week and they have been incredibly busy. We have learnt about using the correct forms of verbs and apostrophes in English. In Maths we have learnt about different types of measurements including length, volume and capacity and weight. In our topic lessons we have started working on the topic ‘Off on Holiday’ where we have studied coastal towns in East Anglia, and sorted human and physical features on a map. During our RS lesson we looked at the Eightfold Path in Buddhism, and created some rules of our own rules that make being in school as enjoyable as it is. In art we created our own rainbow fish in a wax resist style and painted over it ready to make a collage next week. In Science we learnt all about changes of state including melting and freezing. Mrs B thought that this would lead nicely onto eating ice lollies! We all thoroughly enjoyed our moving up morning on Friday.
Year 3 have had a great week this week. We have been working independently on our own Rainforest project. We have been working on it at home too. Year 3 had an amazing time at Dunwich Beach. We completed a beach study and then we went to Orford Castle. The children were superb. On Friday was ‘moving up day’ so the year 3 had their first taste of moving up to the Prep school. The children were very excited.
