On Monday, we thoroughly enjoyed our day at Colchester Zoo! We enjoyed looking at some animal skins, bones and feathers during our educational session, and we were able to look carefully at the item to match it to the correct animal and habitat. We did lots of walking and got to see most of the animals in the zoo. We particularly enjoyed feeding the giraffes and the elephants, and we even had a delicious ice cream in the sunshine! In English this week we wrote a recount about our trip to the zoo, and had great fun looking back at the photos and discussing our favourite part of the day. In maths, we have been finding a number in between two multiples of 10 and we have also looked at halves and quarters. We had great fun following instructions to use halves and quarters to make pictures! In art, we started making our animal masks that we planned last week. We have also completed some tricky maths and English tests this week. The children all applied their knowledge really well and they have all made me extremely proud! After a very busy week we have all earned our half term break.
This week we have busy doing Maths and English assessments. We have been working very hard to create a tourist brochure about Australia. We got rather messy in doing our Aborigine inspired dot art work. The result was worth it. We made huge flowers for our new topic. In RS, we read the story of the house on the rocks and discussed the meaning of the parable. Another busy half term.
In Year 3 this week we have been using our research skills. We have been answering questions about topics that we have learnt about over the year. In Maths we have been using Mathletics and challenging ourselves on ‘Live Mathletics’.
In History, we learnt about how the Normans built castles. We are very excited to be taking our bean plants home today.
It has been a very busy term and I hope you all have a restful half term.
