We have had a fun filled noisy week in Cygnets, listening to and joining in with all different genres of music.
The children have laid down and listened to calm relaxing music and then jumped up and danced to some loud pop music. The children loved the contrast and were quick to go from one to the other.
We have joined together with the Swans and the children have all made their own tambourines and musical shakers. They have also decorated their own musical notes, with different coloured glitter and paper.
This week in Swans we have been tasting ice cream and making an ice cream chart. We counted the different flavoured ice cream scoops on the chart to discover which one was the favourite.
We also created shakers and tambourines in our interactive music week, listening to different music and instruments.
Looking at our sounds so far, we introduced word building using three of our sounds to create a word such as: c a t, and d o g the children were amazing!
This week the children in Reception have been learning a little bit about snow and ice. ‘Igloo Maths’ has supported their learning of more and less than any given number. With support, they have folded paper circles and cut shapes to create snowflakes. It is always a magical moment when they unfold their creation and look at their finished piece. They have painted snowmen and attached their snowflakes to create a 3d picture. The children have observed the effects of salt on ice and have had great fun trying to pick up an ice cube with a piece of string only….a good trick to show friends and family.
