We have been busy this week in Year One. In English, we revised some of the sounds we have learnt in phonics. We worked on making a fact file about a country of our choice. We had to look carefully at information from books, posters and colour the flag. We found out lots of interesting information about animals found in the country and the traditional foods they like to eat.
In Maths, we have been learning about measuring weight, by using scales to weigh different objects in our room. We also had to sort different items from the lightest to the heaviest. We have learnt about vocabulary such as grams and kilograms.
In Art, we had lots of fun making Easter cards and adding designs to our own Easter baskets. We went on an egg hunt on Friday on the top playground. The Easter Bunny came to visit us because we have been working so hard!
In Topic we had to pack a suitcase with things we would need in a hot country and a cold country and think carefully about what we might need. We had a great time on Thursday running a mile for Sports Relief, it was lovely to see everyone joining in and having lots of fun. A very busy last week of term. Have a restful break, Year One and come back ready to have lots of fun and learning in the summer term!
This week in Year 2 we have been busy with our Easter preparations. We used Easter eggs to learn about tallying and making block graphs. In English, we completed our work on explanations and did a comprehension about bikes. In Topic, we experimented with the effect of forces. We enjoyed learning how to make and test paper aeroplanes. In RS we learnt about the events of Holy week. We made Easter cards in Art, decorated Easter trees and completed our Easter egg delivery trucks. We enjoyed an Easter egg hunt too.
This week in Year 3 we have been busy preparing for Easter. They have made some Easter Cards and they have taken part in an Easter colouring competition. The winners for the competition were Annabelle, Bea and Harry and the runners up were Francesca and Ferdie. All of the children tried really hard and took great care. On Tuesday we had our fantastic Viking day. It is always a highlight of Year 3. The Year 8 children look on and remember their Viking Day with fond memories. The Year 3 children were all involved in matches on Wednesday afternoon. Then it was the Sports Relief mile on Thursday morning and we have finished the week with our verse speaking final. I was incredibly proud of our year 3 finalists. I felt great pride at listening to them recite their poem. What an amazing achievement.
And Finally …….
I hope that you all have a fantastic Easter Break, whether you are jetting off somewhere sunny or staying at home, relax, enjoy a lay in and most importantly have fun!! We will see you back in Pre Prep for the summer term on Monday 16th April. Happy Easter, everyone!
