U11A Rugby 7’s

On Saturday 7th October South Lee U11 Rugby team took part in the OBH Rugby 7’s. The squad included a number of U10 boys who have been playing very well and this enabled the squad to rotate its players and give all an opportunity to play. Harry Wells led the team as Captain doing an excellent job on and off the field supported brilliantly by his vice-captain James Howard. The boys played some very good teams throughout the afternoon and I must say were supported brilliantly by our wonderful South Lee parents. The boys rugby improved throughout the day with high standards set against local rivals Moreton Hall and Finborough A team. The results were as follows:
South Lee 0 – 8 St Johns College School, Cambridge
South Lee 1 – 0 Moreton Hall
South Lee 2 – 2 Dame Bradbury
South Lee 1 – 7 Finborough A
South Lee 1 – 3 OBH
South Lee 3 – 2 Finborough B

With 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses it was a good day of rugby. All of the boys played throughout the afternoon which is extremely important at their age and their development and I look forward to next weekend’s Framingham U11 Rugby festival. Special mentions to Tommy Green for two excellent tries, Jacob Legge’s winner in the last minute of the final game, James Howard’s kick-offs, Harry Buckingham’s whole pitch run and some bone crunching tackles from Jacob Dube, Sebastian Sharpstone, Harry Wells and Rowley Black. All of the boys made their coach and parents very proud.

Thankyou to Max MacGillivray for taking such fantastic photographs!

Girls Hockey at IAPS Tournament at Ipswich School 6.10.17

The U13 and U11 Girls hockey teams played in a tournament at Ipswich school.
The standard was high but we rose to the challenge and improved throughout the tournament.
A lovely afternoon of hockey played by all the girls. Well done to everyone who took part.
